  • Dr Fiona Macintosh BVSc (Hons)

    Fiona has worked at Andergrove Veterinary Clinic  since 1997. She initially worked on a full-time basis, but after having her family reverted to part-time work.

    Fiona has a keen interest in all aspects of small animal veterinary care and derives great satisfaction from helping people and their pets. She works hard to keep abreast of updates and changes in the many aspects of veterinary small animal medicine. She has completed a number of distance education courses from the University of Sydney. These include the 12 month long courses in each of Dermatology, Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine. She regularly attends technical updates, seminars and conferences whenever possible and is a member of the veterinary professional organisations, the AVA and ASAVA, 

    Fiona lives with her husband, son,  Doberman/Kelpie X and 3 chooks. The antics of all 6 of them keep her busy outside work!!

    In her spare time Fiona enjoys bushwalking, camping, swimming, attending her sons sporting events, reading, and wining and dining with friends.

  • Bek Neilsen Certificate IV Frontline Management, Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing and currently studying Bachelor of Paramedic Science
    Veterinary Practice Manager

    Bek Neilsen achieved a qualification in Frontline Management whilst working with a successful, international business coaching company and returned to Andergrove Veterinary Clinic in 2013. Bek is 110% focused on providing quality service to clients and fulfilling the Andergrove Veterinary Clinic mission statement ‘dedicated to healthier pets’. She has developed a reputation for implementing continuous improvements, developing work priorities and promoting team effectiveness.

    Formerly, Bek completed her studies in Veterinary Nursing, gained qualification and invested 17 years performing surgical and medical procedures in local veterinary surgeries. 

    Bek has lived in Mackay for 25 years. She married a local and together they have 2 ambitious children, one a qualified senior hair stylist and the other representing his state with cricket and region with soccer. She is currently studying Paramedic Science.

    Bek’s goal is to manage the business operations of Andergrove Veterinary Clinic in line with ‘Stephen Ross’ standards. When communicating with Bek you will sense her passion and proactive commitment with assisting clients to make individual healthy choices for their pet.

  • Sharna Blackburn
    Veterinary Nurse

    Sharna joined the Andergrove Team in October 2014 as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse. Sharna is born and bred in Mackay and has grown up with her family on a farm out of town. Sharna enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Nursing. Her favourite aspect of being a nurse is being able to nurse sick animals back to health, teaching puppy play school and developing further skills with grooming. Sharna has recently completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.  She loves coming into work, knowing that she can make a positive difference to the lives of our patients and clients. Outside of work Sharna is found at the beach or camping with the company of her furry friend Bailey.

  • Julie Ward
    Senior Veterinary Nurse

    Julie has been a Veterinary Nurse for over 20 years. She worked for 7 years in a 24 hour emergency practice, has worked with specialist vets, and has travelled as a locum to experience different ways of doing things and to pick up new skills.  Born and raised in Mackay Julie has returned to settle. 

    Julie loves her Cavalier Saffy ( who can often be seen greeting customers with a waggy tail in reception.  On weekends Julie can be found strolling around in the bush with a camera in hand capturing wildlife and landscape images.

  • Allysha Grant
    Junior Veterinary Nurse

    Born and bred in Mackay, Allysha has grown up with an ongoing  passion for animals. Having her woolly puppy Candice by her side and her many other animal friends at home,  Allysha  has been able  to turn  her dreams into a career.  Allysha has an  intention to  travel the world,   working  to experience the world’s most beautiful creatures.   Allysha  is dedicated in making her love for helping animals in need a reality. Allysha started working at Andergrove Veterinary Clinic in January 2016.
